Thypoch Announces The Simera-C 100mm T1.9 Cine Prime Lens

This looks to be an incredible lens for filmmakers and still photographers (like myself) who appreciate an all manual focus experience, complete with a long focus throw of 210° for precise focusing and a physical aperture ring.

Some exciting news in the world of manual focus cinema lenses today, as Thypoch has announced the release of their new Simera-C 100mm T1.9 prime lens. If you are unfamiliar with Thypoch, they've recently taken the world of manual focus Leica lenses by storm thanks to their beautiful rendering and accessible price point. I've been quite keen to get my hands on one soon, and this new 100mm prime looks extremely promising. Here are the official specs:

  • Seventh and final Simera-C cine prime lineup ranging from 16mm to 100mm
  • T1.9 maximum aperture
  • 16-blade iris
  • 0.85m minimum focusing distance
  • Optical formula comprises 11 elements in 8 groups
  • Soft, natural bokeh and smooth transitions into out-of-focus areas
  • Control of chromatic aberration has been prioritized
  • Sony E and Leica M mount options
  • Available through B&H, CVP and regional partners

I'm huge fan of 100mm lenses for portraiture because of the flattering compression they offer to faces even when used at close distances. Thypoch describes the 100mm's intended image character as defined subject detail with soft, natural bokeh and smooth transitions into out-of-focus areas. The company also emphasizes chromatic aberration control in the optical design.

They definitely made the right choice in offering this lenses in both Leica M and Sony E mounts, as those are the most widely available / easily adapted mounts for use on a variety of different camera systems. Additionally, Thypoch’s positive-lock adapters allow the Leica M-mount configuration to be used with compatible cameras from Sony, Canon, Fujifilm, Lumix and DJI as part of the company’s “M TO ALL” approach.

Shipping of the Thypoch Simera-C 100mm T1.9 is scheduled to begin in late October 2026. With Sony E mount, the suggested retail price is US$879 / €799; with Leica M mount, it is US$959 / €869, which is very reasonable for a cinema prime with these features and specifications.
This looks to be an incredible lens for filmmakers and still photographers (like myself) who appreciate an all manual focus experience, complete with a long focus throw of 210° for precise focusing and a physical aperture ring. And if you haven't already, have a look at the way Thypoch Simera-C lenses render. The image they produce is really quite stunning.
